At the heart of Wayfare Tavern’s menu lies an ode to classic American flavors elevated by thoughtful ingredients and expert preparation. The Organic Fried Chicken is a standout dish—a crispy, golden-brown crust encases tender, juicy meat that simply melts in your mouth. It’s a perfect harmony of texture and flavor that keeps guests coming back. The Tavern Burger and Fries is another fan favorite, celebrated for its mouthwatering juiciness and well-seasoned patty that pairs impeccably with perfectly crispy fries. For those seeking comforting indulgence, the rich and creamy Mac and Cheese provides the ideal sidekick.
The menu also delights with a variety of starters and small plates that showcase the kitchen’s finesse and creativity. The Southern Deviled Eggs offer a nostalgic yet elevated twist, while the Prime Beef Tartare and Chef’s Selection of West Coast & East Coast Oysters provide fresh, flavorful tastes of ocean and orchard. Don’t miss the light, flaky Popover served with whipped salted butter—an elegant surprise that takes the place of traditional bread. Sweet lovers will find the Housemade Doughnuts irresistible, featuring a streusel glaze paired with whipped crème fraîche and a rich dipping sauce for a perfectly balanced finish.
Wayfare Tavern boasts an all-day menu enhanced by a curated beverage list that includes everything from classic Mexican Coke and root beer to inventive cocktails such as the signature Vesper Martini. For dinner, indulge in specials like the Bavette Steak accompanied by polenta fritters and a piquant sauce romesco—a dish that brilliantly showcases the kitchen’s passion for robust flavors and textural contrasts.

Our fifth anniversary was nothing short of magic, and Wayfare Tavern made it unforgettable. From the moment we walked in, we were met with warmth and grace—three heartfelt “Happy Anniversaries” from the host, our server, and even as we paid the bill. That kind of attention doesn’t just make a dinner—it makes a memory. The interiors were a dream, designed by the ever-talented Jon de la Cruz, a kababayan whose work truly captures both elegance and soul. If you ever dine here, touch the wallpaper. Trust me—it’s art you can feel. Before our meal even began, we were surprised with a complimentary champagne toast, a simple yet profoundly touching gesture. Then came the popover, buttery, golden, and cloud-soft—honestly one of life’s small perfections. We started with Deviled Eggs, and I can confidently say—these were the best I’ve ever had. Each bite was creamy, tangy, and perfectly seasoned. The Tavern Burger arrived, accompanied by dangerously addictive shoestring fries—one bite and I understood why it’s legendary. Then, as a self-proclaimed fried-chicken devotee, the California Fried Chicken took my breath away: crisp, juicy, full of heart, and unmistakably Californian. And to end the savory symphony, the Burrata Whipped Potatoes—so delicate, buttery, and dreamy, they could melt even the coldest heart. Wayfare Tavern isn’t just a restaurant—it’s an experience, a love letter written in butter, wine, and grace. Thank you, Chef Tyler Florence and team, for giving our love story the most delicious chapter yet. Photos posted with no filter—just pure authenticity and love for great food.
Dined for lunch and were lucky to visit before they moved to their new location. Great friendly service, rustic old school tavern vibe (at least in this location). Deviled eggs were great to start with. A Yorkshire pudding was served instead of bread which was a nice surprise. Fried Chicken was excellent, moist and a perfect ratio of breading . Tavern burger was very moist and flavorful. Side of cauliflower was excellent.
Went in without a reservation this past Saturday before Christmas, and the place was absolutely packed—not to mention the ciyy had a power outage earlier, which added to the chaos. Despite all that, two spots opened up at the bar and we happily grabbed them. Our bartender was okay—not overly friendly, but attentive. The other two bartenders, however, were fantastic: great service, fun personalities, and really elevated the experience. When the food arrived, both the cheeseburger and the clam chowder were explosive on the palate—rich, flavorful, and clearly done right. Everything hit the spot. Next time, I’d love to try sitting at a table, but the bar by the kitchen looks like a fun place to eat and people-watch. Overall, it was a really good experience, especially considering we walked in without a reservation. Spent about $95 total (including tip) for two drinks and two dishes, and it felt well worth
Cute vibey atmosphere, With a lovely selection of cocktails. We came here for my birthday. Anthony was our waiter and had great professional service, he was kind thoughtful and left a good experience. The food was good, I would appreciate a little more of a flavor profile but nice presentation and cook to all the food.
This place is solid I would totally take a date here, a parent, a friend visiting. This place is just classic good dinning and the service is incredible. I don’t think I’ve had hospitality like that in a really long time. Get the deviled eggs those are bomb. The steak and fish were mid, but I think if you went for the schnitzel, fried chicken or burger you would be in heaven. Would totally come back!
Wayfare Tavern is such an incredible spot for a wedding reception — timeless, cozy, and filled with that signature San Francisco charm. The atmosphere is warm and intimate, with the perfect mix of elegance and comfort. The food is phenomenal (truly some of the best I’ve ever had at a wedding!), and the staff is so attentive and welcoming. It photographs beautifully, especially with the moody lighting and vintage details that make it feel like a tucked-away gem in the heart of the city. It’s the perfect place for couples who want a romantic, elevated, yet laid-back celebration.
Great food and service. Small tables, girl in the front just shrugged her shoulders. And said, it's fine for other people. We walked in at 4:30 for dinner on a Sunday night. There were few early diners. It was not exactly rocking and rolling. Tables besides were empty till 6:30. We were trying not to have the other stuff ie: coffee cups sides dishes. Not fall off the table. I ended up putting my saucer coffee next to table beside us. I like to eat my food all together. Our waiter was definitely trained to be attentive and knowledgeable. He got our special order of all white meat on the fried chicken. Of course, with a nominal fee. Dessert was perfectly not too sweet and with a chocolate crust. We will be back. If I get a bigger table for dinner. It is Tyler Florences's restaurant.
